The book contains a critical edition of the initial section of the Kāśikāvṛtti of Jayāditya and Vāmana (7th century C.E.), the oldest complete commentary on the Aṣṭādhyāyi of Pāṇini –the seminal text of the Sanskrit grammatical tradition– prepared by P. Haag and V. Vergiani in collaboration with Prof. Saroja Bhate, together with an annotated English translation and several essays by various authors on related historical, philological and theoretical issues.
